Our Mission

Founded on the belief that effective training saves lives in critical moments, Precision Weapons and Tactics provides high-intensity, repetition-heavy instruction with an emphasis on improving situational awareness, weapons handling, and marksmanship for law enforcement professionals, military, government employees, and civilians.

PWT Instructors are hand-picked, highly trained professionals with real world experience that come from the U.S. military and law enforcement communities.  Every instructor has deployed the tactics and techniques they instruct in the field successfully.  As members of the PWT team, they continue to perfect their craft.

At PWT, our mission is to provide superior instruction and highly effective practice drills in a safe, controlled environment in order to prepare our students in the event of a dangerous situation involving firearms.

Our Story

Joe Lamphere

Joe Lamphere

Founder/CEO

My foundation for weapons and tactics was created in the 5 years I spent in the United States Marine Corps. When I got out, in 2003, I was fortunate to quickly find work as a firearms instructor. After spending just over a year in that job I felt I had a serious grasp on what we were teaching, and how it should have been taught. I walked into my boss’s office and explained a better way to teach cover and concealment. He agreed with my new tactic, but did not allow me to implement the changes. He then told me if I didn’t like the way we did things I should start my own business. The rest is history.

Ray Parker

Business Development Manager

I started my Marine Corps. career in 1989 as an Amphibious Tractor Crewman and finished in 2001 as a CH-46 helicopter mechanic. During my time with the helo squadron, I also spent considerable time at the range located at NAS Dam Neck, working as a rifle/pistol coach. The experience I obtained from the range, while in the military, allowed me to transition to a civilian position teaching US Navy Master-at-Arms trainees. After leaving there, I began a 14 year stint in the tactical gear industry, where I did everything from sales to ownership of a gear shop. I quickly realized that sales is where I belong. Having a military and shooting/coaching background allows me to completely understand the service we provide and the importance of it to our customers.

Rich Castagna

Rich Castagna

Firearms Instructor

As soon as I graduated high school I enlisted in the Marine Corps. During my 4 years I spent time with a grunt unit and finished with Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC). My career was cut short to injuries I sustained while deployed. Years later I was attending a pistol course being taught by PWTactics. The training was some of the most practical and user friendly training I have ever attended. A short while after I attended the course I received a phone call asking me if I wanted to be a part of the PWT team. The rest is history.

Testimonials

  • “…This was by far the best “live” fire training that I ever attended. This type of real world training is what I can put to use in the field to return safely home to my family every night..”

Patrol Officer, Castle Shannon Police Dept
  •   “…I think the trigger control ie. slack, squeezing, and then the trigger reset that was drilled into us at the course was very beneficial. By the end of the day I felt like I was doing it without even thinking of it..”

    Patrolman, Upper Burrell Police Dept
  • “…Out of the many courses that I’ve had the chance to attend, this class was one of the best. I learned new valuable skills and I was challenged to perform techniques. I also realized that some of the techniques that I currently use might not be the best for certain situations.

Lieutenant, University of Pittsburgh Police Department

  •   … I just wanted to start out by saying that your class was hands down the best course I have ever had the opportunity to attend. In one day you have given me several tools to practice on an every day basis in order to become a faster and more accurate shot…”

    Patrolman, Upper Burrell Police Dept
  •
  •   “…You provided valuable insight and were very responsive to the various questions that I was asking. In my limited experience as a corrections officer and as a police officer, I have prided myself on taking advantage of as much weapons-manipulation training available. I can easily say that your training ranks high due to the high numbers of rounds fired and the dynamic principles that you stress…”

    Officer, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police
  •
  •  “…I feel this type of training should be incorporated into yearly police officer training…”

    Sgt, Lower Burrell Police Dept.
  •
  • “…Joe, your advanced pistol class was one of the best classes I have ever taken in 16 plus years of law enforcement. Your emphasis on speed, accuracy, cover and concealment have been touched upon in prior law enforcement training classes but never have I had the opportunity to put it into effect the way you do in your training program. The principles of shoot, move and communicate were invaluable…”

Warrior Training

We are all warriors. Let PWTactics share its failures and successes on and off the battlefield. There are several similarities between a warrior on the battlefield and a salesperson closing deals. One is a bit more figurative, but we lose warrior’s everyday on both fronts. The key to being successful on all battlefields is communication. Come out and be a part of a cohesive team building experience like no other.

Innovation and greatness come when you least expect it. During our 4 hour Warrior Training your team will learn the fundamentals of shoot-move-communicate. In battle, a warrior must be able to move effectively around the battlefield. In some cases it involves breaking contact from a bad situation, in others you are required to move towards the action. To meet the needs of your organization we replace shoot-move-communicate with sell-transition-communicate. They are very similar to each other and are essential for moving around the space you operate in.

The session will start with real world case studies of military battles gone badly and what could have been done to prevent it. We will then go into business scenarios that similarly went badly. The team will then get their hands on airsoft systems and be taught how to properly engage targets. From there they will be put into teams where they will battle well-trained operators. If the team works together they will accomplish their goal, which is to move freely around the battle space. If they don’t, let’s just say they will feel it.

The end state of this session is to create perspective, work together, and to just get out of the office and have some fun. I look forward to seeing your organization on the battlefield.
